Changes in Cap Metro services ripple though senior, peoples with disabilities community

Anyone who has driven around Austin knows that transportation is an issue here in the capital city. The difficulties of transportation are compounded for people with disabilities and seniors. Without accessible transportation, seniors cannot make doctor’s appointments, socialize, or even go grocery shopping. for people with disabilities, it may jeopardize their employment and limit their access to our beautiful city.

The article below, by the intrepid investigative team at the Austin Chronicle, takes shows what life is like for these folks when services are cut. The fastest growing population in Central Texas, as reported in the last census, is people over the age of 50. As our community changes, it is unrealistic reduce services when the population who needs them is booming. -SP
